In 1998, Mike Domde, president of Diablo Remodel and owner/broker of Better Homes Realty, purchased his first “fixer upper” property in Danville. Mike remodeled the entire home and sold the property a year later for more than $100,000 over what he originally paid for it. During the next 9 years, Mike purchased several other “fixer upper” properties and each one turned out to be as successful, if not more, than the first.

During the selling process of the newly remodeled homes, many neighbors would come through the open houses and rave about the remodel job. A very common question asked by several homeowners interested in remodeling their own homes was, “Can I get the name of your contractor.” Since Mike was not a licensed contractor at the time, he would tell them that he was the contractor but only did work on his own properties.

In 2006, Mike applied for his general contractor’s license through the state of California. Receiving a general contractor’s license requires passing several complex tests which demonstrate to the State that you have the knowledge and expertise to build a house to current building codes and standards from foundation to roof and all aspects in between. The general contractor’s license is one of the most difficult and sought after licenses in the building trades because it encompasses the knowledge of every trade in the industry.

In 2007, Mike formed Diablo Remodel & Construction. Diablo Remodel is a complete residential remodel company that specializes in kitchens, bathrooms, additions and outdoor living areas.
